Woman Injured in Indianapolis Hit and Run

June 17, 2011 - Indianapolis, Ind. - A pedestrian suffered serious personal injuries early Thursday morning when she was hit by a car in an Indianapolis intersection. According to a report at WISH TV 8, the victim was struck around 5 a.m.

The victim was at the crossing of North Tibbs Avenue at the intersection with West 10^th Street when she was hit by a light-colored silver or grey sedan. Pictures from the scene show the intersection blocked off with police tape as authorities investigate this pedestrian accident. Police say she was dragged by the car for a short time before the driver fled the scene.

The victim, a woman who hasn't been identified, was treated by paramedics and taken by ambulance to Wishard Hospital. Police say she's currently in critical condition.

The vehicle involved in this crash likely sustained noticeable damage to its bumper or windshield. The accident was captured on a nearby surveillance camera, but police haven't said what the video shows.
