Woman Dies in Fatal Montgomery County Car Accident

April 15, 2011 - Montgomery County, Ind. - According to a report from Wish TV 8, a two-car crash killed 1 woman and injured another in Montgomery County.

Debra Barrett, 53, of Ladoga, was driving her 1991 Chevrolet car when it went across the center lane near the scene of the crash at State Road 234 and Montgomery County Road 350 East.

Barrett struck a 2005 Chevrolet van being driven by Zona Phelps, 65, of Lebanon. Chief Deputy Coroner Darren Foreman responded to the fatal car accident where Barrett was pronounced dead at the scene.

Phelps had to be freed from her vehicle and was then taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was then flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Phelps' condition was unknown at the time of this posting.

The fatal Montgomery County car accident is still under investigation.
