UPDATE: Police Release More Information on Fatal Hit and Run in Indianapolis

May 10, 2011 - Indianapolis, Ind. - The Indianapolis Police Department is narrowing their search for a hit-and-run driver after evidence collected at the scene led to the make, model and color of the vehicle in question.

According to a report at WISH TV, authorities believe a Ford Ranger pickup truck was involved in the fatal hit and run in Indianapolis.

Police collected a variety of evidence from the scene of Saturday's crash, which killed a 33-year-old man and injured another. The men were walking on West Morris Street when they were hit from behind. The injured victim is currently listed in serious condition at a local hospital.

In the first few hours after the hit-and-run crash, authorities knew only that the vehicle involved was red. However, they discovered a lens cover at the scene, which identified the vehicle as a Ford Ranger pickup truck.

The model year is likely between 1998 and 2000. It is believed that the vehicle is red because police found specks of red touch-up paint on the lens cover. The pickup truck likely sustained extensive damage to its front end, especially to the right side of the bumper.

The driver who caused this fatal crash has not been identified, and the Indianapolis Police Department is still seeking the public's help in bringing him or her to justice.
