Teenage Boy Killed in Fatal Crash in Anderson

May 17, 2011 - Anderson, Ind. - A local family is mourning the death of an Anderson teenager after he was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Sunday.

According to a report at Fox 59, investigators are still unsure about what caused this fatal crash in Anderson. The accident occurred shortly before midnight on Sunday night.

Police say the victim was driving an unidentified car in Anderson when he lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road. The car crashed into a nearby tree.

Police have not said exactly where the accident occurred, but it is believed that the teen crashed near Anderson University. The driver, an 18-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

His passenger also suffered personal injuries, although the extent of his or her injuries was not disclosed. Police have said only that the passenger was under the age of 18; a name and exact age have not been released. This victim was transported to Community Hospital for medical attention.

Police have launched an investigation into this fatal accident to determine what caused the victim to lose control of his car. They will likely be reconstructing the accident to determine all of the contributing factors.
