Teenage Boy in Critical Condition After Indianapolis Car Accident

June 21, 2011 - Indianapolis, Ind. - A teenage boy is fighting for his life after the car he was in slammed into a tree in Indianapolis on Monday. According to a report at WISH TV 8, the victim's teenage brother was driving the car when it crashed shortly before 8 p.m.

Police say the 2 boys were driving in a Pontiac Lemans on East 36^th Street when the driver lost control of the car, veered off the road, and crashed head-on into a tree. The driver, a 17-year-old boy, escaped serious injuries, but his brother suffered serious personal injuries that left him in critical condition.

Police have identified him as an 18-year-old boy, although his name hasn't been released pending notification of the family. The victim was transported by ambulance to Wishard Hospital, where he's currently in serious condition.

Investigators have determined that the driver was likely speeding at the time of the accident, although his exact speed hasn't been disclosed. It's not immediately clear if the 17-year-old boy will face any charges in connection with this accident. Authorities have already determined that drunk driving didn't play a role.
