Rollover Accident in Shelbyville Kills 1, Injures Another

June 3, 2011 - Shelbyville, Ind. - A serious rollover accident in Shelbyville killed one person and injured another on Thursday. According to a report at WRTV Indianapolis, the crash occurred in the early morning around 5 a.m.

Police are still investigating this rollover accident, but investigators believe that the driver of a dark sedan lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of State Road 9 and County Road 350 South. The car rolled several times before coming to a rest in an empty field. Pictures from the scene show a dark-colored sedan resting on its hood.

The driver of the car, a 28-year-old man from Shelbyville, was ejected as the car rolled over. He was already dead by the time first responders arrived on the scene. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 19-year-old man, who was wearing his seatbelt, suffered serious personal injuries. He was airlifted to Methodist Hospital, where doctors were able to stabilize him. Police have not determined what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
