Pedestrian Killed in Northwest Indianapolis Accident

June 7, 2011 - Indianapolis, Ind. - An Indianapolis man died over the weekend in a fatal pedestrian accident on the Northwest side. According to a report at Fox 59, the victim was hit by a car while attempting to cross a busy road.

Police are still investigating this deadly accident, and investigators have released few details about how it occurred. Initial reports indicate that the victim was crossing 38^th Street when he was hit by a car near the intersection of Moller Road. The accident occurred late on Sunday night, so presumably it was dark at the time. Witnesses to the accident told police that the victim stepped into oncoming traffic and wasn't in a designated crosswalk when he was hit.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders, but he hasn't yet been publicly identified. The driver's name and age has also not been released, but police say he or she remained at the scene after the accident. The driver submitted to a blood test at Methodist hospital, where toxicology tests will be run. However, investigators say alcohol probably didn't contribute to this pedestrian accident.
