Motorcyclist Injured after Indianapolis Accident with SUV

August 10, 2011, Indianapolis, Ind. - An accident that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 2, left a motorcyclist in critical condition, according to a story on IndyStar.com.

According to the newspaper's website, the Northwestside crash happened between Robin Smith, a 55-year-old motorcyclist, from Indianapolis, and 70-year-old Donald Haskett, the driver of the Toyota SUV. It happened around 4:30 p.m. at Georgetown Road and 56^th Street.

Haskett was westbound on 56^th Street when he turned left onto Georgetown Road. At the same time, Smith rode across the intersection on a 1994 Honda motorcycle. As the SUV turned, Smith crashed into its left side. Police investigators said signs indicate that Smith had the right of way; however, no citations were issued.

Smith was transported to Methodist Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Police said they don't think alcohol contributed to the crash.
