Distracted Driving May Have Caused 3-Semi Accident in Richmond

July 22, 2011 - Richmond, Ind - The Indy Star reported that authorities are citing distracted driving, as the chief culprit, in an accident that involved 3 semi-trucks, on I-70 by the Salisbury Road overpass, that brought traffic to a standstill for several hours on Wednesday.

Kevin Tincher, 54, of Greencastle, was driving a semi-truck westbound on I-70, at around 2 p.m. He rear-ended a semi-truck, driven by William Odum, 67, of Marion, who was forced into another semi-truck being driven by Julio Chavez, 26, of South Gate, California, which was parked on the shoulder of the highway.

The accident was responsible for a diesel fuel leak on I-70.

Tincher was the only driver who reported any injuries and was taken to Reid Hospital. Staff indicated that he was in good condition.
