Defect in Slack Adjusters Leads to Great Dane Trailer Recall

The 2011 semi van and reefer trailers manufactured by Great Dane, have been recalled effective May, 2011, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2011 models of the Great Dane semi vans and reefer trailers manufactured from October 15, 2010 through January 31, 2011, were assembled with defective Gunite automatic air brake slack adjusters. The iron on the Gunite automatic air brake slack adjusters was improperly cast.

In the event of improper iron casting to the slack adjusters that attach semi vans and reefer trailers, the slack adjusters could crack while braking, which could result in a braking malfunction and cause a serious vehicle accident.
