Cop Injured in Indianapolis Motorcycle Accident by Unlicensed Driver

September 6, 2011 - Indianapolis, Ind. - A motorcycle officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was injured in a traffic accident on Sunday, August 28, while he was working as a police escort at an event, reported the Indy Star.

The officer, whose identity has not been released to the public, was injured while he was driving on 16^th Street, with his sirens on at the Red Bull Indianapolis MotoGP motorcycle race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Another driver then turned in front of him caused the crash. The driver of the vehicle that hit him has had a suspended license since 1995.

The wounded police officer was treated at Methodist hospital for a broken wrist and fractured collarbone. No information has been released on whether or not alcohol was a factor in the collision.
