2 Teens Killed in Delaware County Car Accident

June 24, 2011 - Delaware County, Ind. - A teenager is fighting for his life in an Indianapolis hospital after he was injured in a car accident that killed 2 of his friends. According to a report at WISH TV 8, the 3 teenagers were involved in a high-speed accident shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police say the teens were traveling nearly 100 miles per hour, in a 50 speed limit zone, on the Eaton-Albany Pike when the driver lost control of his Ford Mustang, veered off the road, and crashed into a row of trees on the shoulder. Two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, including an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man. A third teen in the car, an 18-year-old boy, was airlifted to Indianapolis with serious personal injuries.
Authorities have not said if the victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, but the airbags in the car were not functioning. Investigators have determined that the airbags were deployed in an earlier car accident and were never replaced.
