2 Ejected in Car Crash Near Edinburgh

June 9, 2011 - Edinburgh, Ind. - A serious car crash on Interstate 65 left one person dead and another with serious personal injuries. According to a report at WTHR.com, both victims were ejected in the crash, which occurred Tuesday evening.

Indiana State Police are still investigating this crash, but initial reports indicate that the victims were traveling southbound on I-65 in a 1997 Land Rover when the driver lost control.

Four people were in the Land Rover when it crashed, and two of the passengers were ejected during the incident. The driver, a 21-year-old woman, was ejected and died at the scene before first responders arrived. The driver's 9-month-old son was not injured in the crash because he was strapped into an infant safety seat.

Another passenger who was ejected, a 45-year-old woman, suffered serious personal injuries and was transported by helicopter to Indianapolis for treatment. Her condition is currently unknown. Investigators have not released any information on the fourth passenger.

An accident reconstruction team will be investigating the crash to determine what caused the driver to lose control.
