How can an attorney help you file a successful SSD claim?

If you or a family member have become disabled due to an illness, accident, or injury and are no longer able to work, you may be entitled to Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits - even if you have already been denied. The SSD application process is long and complicated. More than 69 percent of Indiana applicants are denied the first time they apply. But, don't get frustrated, Hensley Legal Group, PC can help you.

If you've just started your claim, here are five tips to help you out:

  • 1. File your claim right away, even if you aren't sure that you need to. Filing a claim takes time. It may take up to 18 months to get approved or denied. You can apply by going to your local Social Security office in person, by contacting them on the telephone or by visiting the Social Security Administration website.
  • 2. Fill out the paperwork correctly and completely. Many people who are denied SSD benefits are often rejected not because of their disability, but because they failed to completely fill out their paperwork or they failed to submit their forms in a timely manner.
  • 3. Continue your medical treatment. Your SSD claim is based almost solely on your medical records. If you are not receiving medical treatment for your disability, you will not have the medical records to substantiate your claim.
  • 4. If you are denied on your initial claim, appeal right away. You only have 60 days from the date of denial in order to file an appeal. In Indianapolis, it may take up to a year to get a hearing.
  • 5. If you need assistance, contact the attorneys at Hensley Legal Group. We are here for you.

The attorneys at Hensley Legal Group have helped hundreds of disabled Indiana residents with the lengthy and frustrating SSD appeal process. We will fight for your disability benefits. What can an SSD advocacy lawyer do for you?

  • 1. An attorney can make sure that you have a valid claim and that you meet all the requirements for SSD.
  • 2. An attorney will make sure your forms are filled out correctly and in a timely manner. Many people are denied due to small oversights or because they do not clearly depict the severity of their medical condition.
  • 3. An attorney will help you gather the supporting documents to help your claim. You will need medical records to back up your disability claim.
  • 4. If you appeal, your case will have to go before an Administrative Law Judge at a social security disability hearing. You will want an experienced attorney to represent you at this hearing to make sure that your case is fairly and accurately presented.

Whether you are applying for the first time, are reapplying after a denial, or are appealing a rejected claim, our lawyers can provide the guidance that you need to get your SSD claim approved. Let us put our experience to work for you.
